THE BUSY BEES

The Busy Bee program at Briarwood Day Camp is a fun, exciting, rewarding camp within a camp program especially for children ages three to five. Gradewise, our Busy Bees range from children who will be going into a three year old pre-school class after the summer to children who will be entering kindergarten after the summer.

Briarwood offers an invitingly warm environment, surrounded and led by a group of friendly, nurturing, and child centered individuals. With that child centered philosophy at our very core, the Busy Bee program provides and meets the appropriate developmental needs of our youngest children.

Our goals are many. With new and exciting challenges greeting the children daily, we begin by demonstrating and teaching the socialization skills needed for strong healthy growth. By the end of the summer, we will have strengthened self-confidence and leadership skills, producing appropriate young risk takers and independent thinkers. Everlasting friendships will evolve as well.

Our instructional program offers seven periods each day, in which professional and dedicated specialists will expand the athletic, artistic, and creative abilities of our children.

CITs (COUNSELORS IN TRAINING)

• In the CIT Program, your child will...
• Learn how to assist counselors while working with younger children.
• Participate in their own specially designed program in P.M.
• Day trips throughout the summer.
• Optional overnight excursion.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE

• Information on our Before and After Care...
• Before and after care is available from 7:45am to 6pm
• Activities include swimming, arts and crafts, and sports
• Experienced counselors
• Small fee

LUNCHES AT BRIARWOOD

• Briarwood's Lunch Program Offers...
• A varied menu ensures that healthy appetites are adequately satisfied.
• Hot meals four days a week.
• Fruit every day.
• Chef and facilities are certified by the Board of Health.
• Special diet needs are accommodated.
• Afternoon snacks are provided daily.

TRANSPORTATION

• Provided to and from camp either by car or van, driven by appropriately licensed drivers.
• Door to door pickup will be arranged if possible.
• Our 1/2 day program is with transportation to camp only.
• Our extended care programs are without transportation.

CAMP INFIRMARY

• About the Briarwood Nurses' Office...
• Our nurse is an emergency room registered nurse. She is on duty every day in our infirmary.
• Health forms for all campers are required.
• Dispensing of medication is only permitted by our nurse.
